The Cake

Marlee's little birthday party was a lot of fun. We had several of her little friends over to celebrate with us which made it even better. I was struggling to decide what type of cake I should make. Rhaegan's cakes have all been super cute and related to something she likes. The only thing Marlee like right now besides toilet paper and tampons is her polka dot blanket she got from her Aunt Krista. She has to sleep with it, ride in the car with it, walk around with it. It is never too far away from her. So I though I would have a "polka dot" theme to her party This is not a good picture of her cake but you can kind of see my attempt at a polka dot cake.I made her her own individual cake so she could destroy it
And she did! It was a whole lot messier than Rhaegan's first birthday cake experience. Then again Marlee is a whole lot crazier than Rhaegan was.
More pictures to come.

She's walking!

Our little munchkin is walking!! She has actually been taking a few steps here and there for about 2 weeks now but when we would ask her to do it or if Shae was watching she would never perform. Finally, of her birthday she dceided to stop making us wait.

Happy Birthday, Marlee

From the beginning I knew there was going to be something special about this little girl. She arrived in this world with so much personality it was scary. Her spiky hair was her first unique trait. Everyone would comment on it when they saw her even if it wasn't for the first time. It lasted for about 3 months and I have to say I miss it. She started growing up super fast. I feel like I missed a lot of her baby phase. Probably because I'm always anxious for that phase to end. She was a very happy baby but you would have never known that based on her ability to laugh because she still has yet to let out a major giggle.

(Yes those shoes are way too big)
She loves playing with Rhaegan and by "playing" I clearly mean bother. She is so good at giving Rhaegan a run for her money. She plays the innocent card which inevitably leads to Rhaegan getting into trouble. Kind of sounds like a Nick and Quinten situation

She loves to get into everything. I am constantly cleaning up a mess somewhere in my house thanks to this little lady. She knows how to turn the Directv box on and off and will constantly push the button at the most annoying times. She sits back and smiles as we are fumbling with the controllers trying to turn our shows back on. Making a mess while eating is another favorite. I know it's completely normal for a one year old to throw food but Marlee puts a whole to meaning to the word "throw." If I find hunks of food in my light fixtures I'm not surprised.

We have several nicknames for her. Hopefully she knows her real name because we rarely use it. Some of her "other" names include Goose, Marpeys, Pey Pey, Love bug, sister, Marla (that's all Rhaegan), crazy girl, and many more. She is such a sweet girl and we love her so much.
Happy Birthday, Marlee!!

Welcome March!

The first two months of 2010 have been extremely busy and filled with all sorts of craziness. Luckily I have these two beautiful little girls to keep me grounded and in the right frame of mind. They of course don't help always help my sanity levels but they make me smile.
Welcome March!

Sign of Boredom

Unfortunately I don't have a picture to go along with this blog because I was too mad t think about grabbing the camera. Now that several days have passed I can laugh about it and hopefully remember the camera next time (there will not be a next time though). So here's the story:
For those of you who may not completely know Rhaegan here's a little summery of her so you're in the right frame of mind while reading this story. She hates being dirty. She stresses out whenever she spills a drop of anything. And she definitely knows where to use markers, crayons, nail polish, etc. Well, the other day Shae was working in our bedroom and I was somewhere cleaning (as usual). Rhaegan and Marlee were quietly playing in Rhaegan's room. There is normally no cause for concern when there isn't too much noise coming from her room. However, this particular day was different. After a little while Shae walks into the room to check on the girls and finds Marlee covered in bright pink lipstick. She is laughing and so is Rhaegan so when Shae brings Marlee in to show me we both start chuckling as well. We clean off Marlee and they continue to play. About 10 minutes later Shae walks in again because he smells nail polish. This is when all "you know what" breaks lose. There is hot pink nail polish all over the walls, on the carpet, on Rhaegan's vanity, on several of her toys and I'm sure many other places. There is also lipstick on the walls. There are no words to describe my reaction to this discovery. I was FURIOUS!! Rhaegan has NEVER done anything like this in her 4 years of life. This is something a 2 year old does out of sheer curiosity. What's Rhaegan's excuse? She just felt like doing it is what she says. The only thing I can think of it she is bored. What am I suppose to do to fill each and everyday with back to back activities? I am still in shock over the whole incident. Hopefully it was a one time thing (I know I do have Marlee to worry about). The nail polish came off of almost everything with the help of nail polish remover. It also, however, removed the paint on her walls. The lipstick will not come off the walls. I have tried everything. So now her walls have a little bit of art on them. Crazier things have happened to most of you I'm sure but this is a brand new development for me. And I have to say, I'm not loving it.

Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day was a blast. We actually celebrated it on Friday. We started the evening by going to PF Changs. I am not a fan of Chinese food but oh my goodness, it was very good. We had good conversation and a lot of laughs. After getting our kids in bed we then headed out again, to Ashly and Mike's place. As you can see from the picture there was delicious food and drinks. We played "Battle of the Sexes" which was hilarious!! The guys actually won (boo) but that's only because the game is bias.
It was a super fun night. Thanks everyone for such a great time!

Second Time Around

Two years ago (almost to the day) we were doing this exact same thing with little Rhaegan. Today it was Marlee's turn. My girls have extremely bad ears which inevitably leads to tubes. Marlee has been suffering from the same ear infection for about 8 weeks now. She has been on as many antibiotics as allowed by law and still the infection persists. It was only a matter of time before we heard the word "tubes." We arrived at the surgical center at around 9 am. She was given a cute little shirt to wear during the procedure and then we waited....and waited...and waited some more. Keep in mind Marlee hadn't eaten since 2am (we woke her up to feed her).
She hated the ankle tag they put on her and tried with all her might to remove it.

We tried to pass the time by playing dress-up.

And taking rides in the green wagon.

Then is was Marlee's turn! The Anesthesiologist came and got her, we waited for about 15 minutes in the waiting room, and then we were called back to post-op to hold our little girl while she was waking up (not the greatest experience).
The ENT said her ears (especially the left) were EXTREMELY infected with about a tablespoon of puss in each!!! Luckily everything went well and she is now at home playing like her normal self. We'll see how the next 48 hours go.
Thanks Ash, for watching Rhaegan. You're the best!!
